What is Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery?
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is the specialty of dentistry which encompasses the art and science of diagnosis, surgery and related treatment of diseases, injuries, defects and esthetic aspects of the head, face, mouth, teeth, gums, jaws and neck.
As Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Dr. Slaughter and Dr. Wilson received five years of hospital and clinical training beyond general dentistry, including graduate training in other disciplines such as medicine, general surgery, plastic surgery, anesthesia and pathology.
Dr. Slaughter and Dr. Wilson are specially qualified to perform dental implant surgery, and to care for patients who experience such conditions as problem wisdom teeth, facial pain and misaligned jaws. They treat accident victims suffering facial injuries, offer reconstructive surgery and care for patients with tumors, cysts and other defects of the mouth and jaw.
Our surgical staff are experienced, certified oral and maxillofacial surgical assistants, who assist in administration of IV sedation and surgery. All staff are well-versed in health and insurance policies, and are CPR certified.
